Sweet, Sweet, Summertime!

Even though I ended up with a battle wound from this shoot, the photos were 100% worth it!

When Lee B. Boutique decided to launch a summer collection of polymer clay earrings, I knew I had to get fruit involved. I have been wanting to do a shoot with fruit for a long time so it was absolutely perfect! Trying out fun poses and incorporating the fruit at all different angles was challenging, but we made it work!

For the peach earrings I wanted the models to be drinking "champagne" together to accentuate the orange color of the fruit on the earrings. I bought a bottle of sparking cider to use and that's where things took a turn for the worst...it would not open! Usually my experience with sparking cider is the top twists off, that was not the case this time. After trying to use a key ring, a rock, a tree, and even a pair of jeans to get a grip, we decided to try to break the bottle and use what we could that did not spill. Well, as you can imagine, I was able to break the bottle open but then slashed my hand open. Luckily, one of my models was a track athlete and was able to run to get me a paper towel to stop the bleeding and continue the shoot. We were only half way done after all and couldn't stop there!

Anyway, this shoot will go down as one of my favorites and maybe I'll even have a cool scar to remember it by...
